Laziness is a sin that often hides in plain sight, disguised as rest or self-care. Proverbs 24:30-34 uses the image of a neglected vineyard to show what an undisciplined life looks like from the outside. The Bible identifies seven key characteristics of a lazy lifestyle, including trouble starting and finishing work, making excuses, and being wise in one's own eyes. The real cure for laziness is not simply working harder. It is a heart transformation that only comes through Jesus Christ. He was perfectly faithful in everything the Father gave Him to do, and through faith in Him, His faithfulness is credited to us. Because of the gospel, we have both the forgiveness for our failures and the power through the Holy Spirit to grow in faithfulness.
